EXCITING NEWS!!!!

I am almost at the end of my 7th week! Thought I would break the news! Chris and I are both very excited. Chris told me the other night that he wants the baby now.... I told him that we both need the 9 months! lol. So, you shall see a lot of house improvements soon..... we will be getting ready for the new little one. Please just pray for my health and the babies!

June has flown by so fast. Lots has been going on for us. Right now I am sitting in a hotel room while Chris is in training for BMW. After his two days of training in Fremont we will be heading down to Monterey for 2 days.

We just flew in yesterday. Chris did not get to see what San Fran looked like when we were out here last Sept so this time we got to go and experience it. Here are a few pictures we took yesterday. We sure had a blast. (Besides the driving and getting lost a bunch) But us getting lost lead to us seeing a lot of things up close I never have seen myself!

Update on Allie

So, this past Tuesday night Chris and I had climbed into bed very tired from such a busy week to only be waken up by a phone call.It's not the kind of phone call you want to receive. "Allie is going to the hospital again. She went out of it again".(Allie is like my little baby....So I don't handle that news very well) The same thing happened Jan. 1st around 11:30 at night. Same time again. Same thing. So we spent most of the night in the ER. But this time we got some kinda of answer. We started to realize that these occurrences sounded more like a seizure. Last time they thought she just caught some kind of flew. Well, Allie had a CAT scan at the ER, nothing showed up, then the following morning she had a EEG done and we found out today that she has Benign Rolandic Epilepsy.Allie will have an MRI done to make sure that it is just Epilepsy and there is nothing wrong with her brain. So please pray that all goes well. She is NOT happy about the MRI. But the good news is, they said by age 13 she should out grow this, but until then we will just have to learn how to handle her when she goes through one. It also may never happen again. (That would be nice) I don't think we can handle watching her go through much more of this!

Oh and it is in th family. My Aunt Rita told my mom that when my mother was like 3 or 4 she had the same thing happen. Pretty Freaky! So please keep Allie and our family in your prayers!


I am posting some info below for those of you who want to know what Benign Rolandic Epilepsy is.....



What is Benign Rolandic Epilepsy (BRE)?

It is common, mild form of childhood epilepsy characterized by brief simple partial seizures involving the face and mouth, usually occurring at night or during the early morning hours. Seizures are the result of brief disruptions in the brain's normal neuronal activity.

Who gets Benign Rolandic Epilepsy?

Children between the ages of 3 and 13 years, who have no neurological or intellectual deficit. The peak age of onset is from 9-10 years of age. BRE is more common in boys than girls.

What kind of seizures occur with Benign Rolandic Epilepsy?

Typically, the child experiences a sensation then a twitching at the corner of their mouth. The jerking spreads to involve the tongue, cheeks and face on one side, resulting in speech arrest, problems with pronunciation and drooling. Or one side of the child's face may feel paralyzed. Consciousness is retained. On occasion, the seizure may spread and cause the arms and legs on that side to stiffen and/or jerk, or it may become a generalized tonic-clonic seizure that involves the whole body and a loss of consciousness.

When do seizures associated with Benign Rolandic Epilepsy occur?

Seizures tend to happen when the child is waking up or during certain stages of sleep. Seizures may be infrequent, or can happen many times a day.

How is Benign Rolandic Epilepsy diagnosed?

A normal child having such seizures is given an EEG test to confirm the diagnosis, a test that graphs the pattern of electrical activity in the brain. BRE has a typical EEG spike pattern - repetitive spike activity firing predominantly from the mid - temporal or parietal areas of the brain near the rolandic (motor) strip.

Where does the name "Benign Rolandic Epilepsy" come from?

Benign Rolandic Epilepsy is considered "benign" because it is usually outgrown at adolescence, whether it is treated or not. Furthermore, children who have it are not adversely affected - other than the seizures, their health remains the same. The word "Rolandic" refers to the part of the brain - the motor or rolandic strip - that is the focus of epileptic activity in these children.

Why does a child develop Benign Rolandic Epilepsy?

There may be a genetic predisposition to this form of epilepsy, but we don't know why some children develop seizures and others do not. It is considered "idiophatic", meaning there is no apparent underlying cause, no structural lesions in the brain has not yet fully developed.

What is the treatment for Benign Rolandic Epilepsy?

BRE may be left untreated, If a child's seizures are frequent or troublesome, or if there is a concern about nocturnal seizures, antiepileptic medications may be prescribed. Carbamazepine is the drug of choice, followed by valproic acid. Under a doctor's supervision, medication can be tapered off and discontinued once the child reaches puberty, or after seizure - free period of approximately three years.

Does Benign Rolandic Epilepsy go away?

BRE is considered to have an excellent prognosis.Whether treated or not, the seizures and the EEG spikes usually disappear at puberty, by which time the brain and central nervous system have matured. The child's intellect and overall functioning remain normal.

May was very Busy and now it's JUNE!

I haven't written much lately because we have been pretty busy. But of course I will fill everyone in! Lots to type and Lots of pictures to load.... here it goes!


In the beginning of the month of May, Nathan (Chris's Brother) Graduated from CU Boulder. It's a little over an hour away from our house. So Chris worked half day and we headed up to see him graduate.







Allie was also wrapping up the school year.She of course wasn't graduating but she is in choir and for there final performance they had the Elementary, Middle, and High School all do a performance together. It turned out really good.







The next weekend after Nathans graduation, Chris and I held him a graduation BBQ party in Boulder. Chris and I did all the cooking. It turned out really well. We made Homemade BBQ Sauce and Beans. (a friends recipe which is amazing)






The upcoming week Allie had a picnic at school for the school year ending and we had to say goodbye to our good friend Stephen who was heading off to Iraq. Please pray for his safety.

Chris and I helped work on some yard work at my parents house and Chris also fixed the ATC (3-wheeler) that had not been working for a few years now. Chris is VERY excited about it! Here are a few pictures of Allie and I planting Aspens.








We still have lots of yard work and Landscaping to finish at my parents house but Chris and I had to start cleaning up our house because my best friend Kristyn was coming to visit.(We got enough yard work done though to make the yard look good for my parents BBQ for Memorial Day weekend) Kristyn came to visit May 28-June 1. A pretty quick visit but we were able to cram a lot in those 5 days she was here.

Before Kristyn Came we tried to fix up the bathroom and her room a little. We will be doing something different for the guest bedroom and we might change the guest bathroom. But this is what we did in the few days before Kristyn's arrival so the rooms could feel a little bit homier.

So we were busy for a few days fixing our house up and then Kristyn arrived! YEA!

The next day..... Wednesday... I took Kristyn to see where Chris worked.







That night My Mom, My Dad, Aaron and Allie came up to go to the pool. Chris's friend Stevie also joined us! We all had a blast going down the water slide and hanging out in the lazy river.





The next day.. Thursday... we headed up to Vail and Breckenridge to show Kristyn what the mountains look like in Colorado. Chris took off Thursday and Friday to spend with Kristyn. We all had such a good time in the mountains.(Stevie (Chris's friend) went along with us too)

Ok.... so here's the funniest part of the trip. We all are walking around Vail and we walk out of a store and see this little boy pretending to be spiderman. We all have no idea where his parents are but we become very entertained by this little kid. He really believes he is spiderman. The funniest part about it was he kept walking on this window ledge and falling into the bushes and jumping up in a spiderman pose. It was freakin' hilarious. We couldn't stop laughing the rest of the day.

Friday..... We wanted to take Kristyn to an Alpine slide but all of the ones in the mountains weren't open yet. So, we found one in Golden, Colorado that was open. I do not have the pictures on my camera so I will have to post them when Kristyn sends me them! After the alpine slide we all went over to Coors and took the Coor's tour!Kristyn really enjoyed and so did Chris. He had never gone. So it was a first for both of them. (I do have the pictures from Coors)

After Coors Nathan meet up with us and we headed back to our house to get ready to go out downtown Denver. We ate dinner and waited for Aaron to show up and then off we went to downtown.







During the week we were told by my Mom that a childhood friend was in town and we might be able to meet up with her. Well, it happened to work out that we could meet with her on Friday at 1:00 in the morning. So we left downtown Denver and headed to pick her up. Kristyn hasn't seen her since she was 5 and I haven't seen her since I was around 9 years old. Some of you may remember her or her family. Mallory McDonald.

We all were up until like 4:30 am and we had to be up in 3 and 1/2 hours to take Kristyn to the airport. It was a very ruff Saturday waking up! Here are the last few pictures before Kristyn took off!







Well, That sums up the month of May and brings us to the beginning of June. We were very sad Kristyn had to go back home. Our house has become very lonely. But we have the end of June to look forward to when we will be in Monterey with Kristyn!
